Passion Fruit vines can grow in a variety of soil environments. The vine climbs along the fence and can grow about 15 feet long. They are round in shape 2-3 inches long. When ripe, the thick waxy rind grows a wrinkly, deep purple with faint white specks. The orange juicy pulp inside contains many small dark seeds.

Sources have said the flower of the passion fruit was known by the Spanish missionaries as the Flor de las cinco lagas (flower of the five wounds) because it illustrated the crucifixion of Christ. Hence the name Passion Fruit was originated.

Passion Fruit is widely considered one of the most delicious fruits in the world. They are commonly eaten fresh by scooping out the pulp and enjoying. It is also a popular additive for drinks, the pulp can be used for a variety of desserts and toppings for ice creams.

Consumers looking for an exotic twist on everyday classics may enjoy all the benefits of a passion fruit. It’s not only delicious, sweet and tart but it is also loaded with vitamin C, and A and it’s rich in potassium.
